Based on national Covid-19 data, 170 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data from the week of July 3, 2022, shows a national average of 0.95 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five areas with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week are: South Jakarta (9.74), Central Jakarta (8.74), Badung (6.01), East Jakarta (5.88), and Balikpapan (5.84).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 9.74 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.26 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Central Jakarta is next, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 8.74 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 7.85 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Badung conducted 6.01 tests per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta 5.88, and Balikpapan (population 646,020) 5.84 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 95 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily test numbers than the previous week. Conversely, 254 regencies/cities reported lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Badung (6.01 tests), Balikpapan (5.84 tests), and Mimika (5.57 tests).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
