According to a Kurious survey from the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), the majority, or 28.1% of respondents, spend less than Rp30,000 per month on soap.

Then, 26% of respondents spend Rp30,000 – Rp50,000 per month on soap. Furthermore, 13.2% of respondents spend Rp50,000 – Rp80,000 per month.

Next, 8.8% of respondents spend Rp80,000 – Rp110,000 per month on soap, followed by spending of Rp110,000 – Rp140,000 per month (5.4%), and Rp140,000 – Rp170,000 per month (1.9%).

On the other hand, 11.7% of respondents spend more than Rp200,000 per month on soap.

Kurious-KIC conducted this survey among 555 people spread across various regions of Indonesia, with 50.4% male and 49.6% female respondents.

More than half of the respondents are from Java Island excluding Jakarta (65%), followed by Jakarta (13.2%), and Sumatra (10.9%). Meanwhile, respondents from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua have smaller proportions (between 0.1%-3.9%).

Most respondents were aged between 35-44 years (31.1%), followed by the 25-34 year age group (28.2%) and the 45-54 year age group (21.7%).

The survey was conducted from December 19-26, 2022, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 4.2% and a confidence level of 95%.
