Populix research institute compiled a list of the most purchased items online by Generation Z and Millennials in Indonesia during the first quarter of 2023.

Skincare and bodycare products topped the list, purchased by 73% of Gen Z respondents and 65% of Millennials.

These products were more popular among women, with 88% of Gen Z women and 81% of Millennial women purchasing them. The figures for men were 53% for Gen Z and 45% for Millennials.

The second most popular category was clothing, bought by 70% of Gen Z and 68% of Millennials. Third was food and beverages, chosen by 45% of Gen Z and 49% of Millennials.

Gadget accessories also made the list, with similar percentages: 41% for both Gen Z and Millennials. Household goods followed, chosen by 33% of Gen Z and 51% of Millennials.

Travel accessories were also purchased online by 31% of Gen Z and 36% of Millennials.

The survey also summarized the proportion of young respondents purchasing entertainment tickets (movies, concerts, etc.), health supplements, and books, as shown in the attached graph.

This data collection targeted 1,098 Gen Z respondents and 1,145 Millennials. The survey was conducted across several major cities in Indonesia on the islands of Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
