Indonesian citizens are most interested in breaking the fast together with family.

According to a JakPat survey of 1,702 Muslim respondents in Indonesia, 62% expressed interest in participating in a communal breaking-of-the-fast (buka puasa bersama) event during Ramadan 2025.

Of this group, the majority, or 71%, planned to attend a buka puasa bersama with extended family members who do not live in the same household.

Furthermore, 66% were interested in breaking their fast with close friends, 47% with school/university/tutoring friends, and 42% with friends from religious study groups/mosques.

Additionally, 38% planned to break their fast with neighbors, 31% with colleagues, and 28% with their community/organization.

The survey also found that female respondents showed a greater interest in attending buka puasa bersama with family compared to male respondents.

"Men showed a tendency to attend buka puasa bersama events with non-family members such as friends, neighbors, or colleagues," wrote JakPat in its report, *Future Insights into Ramadan and Eid 2025*.

This JakPat survey involved 1,702 Muslim respondents, with 53% male and 47% female.

Respondents were located in non-Jabodetabek Java (51%), Jabodetabek (34%), and outside Java (15%). Respondents were predominantly millennials (44%), Gen Z (40%), and Gen X (16%).

The survey was conducted online via the Jakpat application on January 15-16, 2025, with a margin of error below 5%.
