South Sumatra Had the Largest Rubber Plantation Area in 2021

Indonesia is one of the world's largest rubber producers. The large amount of rubber produced is inseparable from the vast area of rubber plantations in the country.

South Sumatra is the province with the largest rubber plantations in Indonesia. Based on data from the Ministry of Agriculture, the area of rubber plantations in the province reached 872,500 hectares (ha) in 2021.

Jambi is in second place with 398,000 ha of rubber plantations. Followed by North Sumatra and West Kalimantan, which have 397,600 ha and 392,400 ha of rubber plantations respectively.

Furthermore, the area of rubber plantations in Riau is 330,500 ha. Following that are Central Kalimantan with 293,900 ha, South Kalimantan with 201,600 ha, and Lampung with 166,300 ha.

This data shows that Indonesia's rubber plantation area is concentrated on the islands of Sumatra and Kalimantan. In total, the area of rubber plantations on Sumatra is the largest, reaching 2.57 million ha, while Kalimantan is second with 963,300 ha.

Meanwhile, the total area of rubber plantations in Indonesia reached 3.69 million ha in 2021. The details are: 478,000 ha of Non-Producing Plants (TBM), 3 million ha of Producing Plants (TM), and 212,400 ha of Damaged/Non-Producing Plants (TR/TTM).
