West Java is one of the largest rice-producing regions in Indonesia. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), rice production in West Java reached 9.08 million tons, or 5.3 million tons of milled rice, in 2020.
Indramayu Regency is the largest rice-producing area in West Java, with a yield of 1.36 million tons, or 14.78% of the total production in 2020. The regency has a rice harvest area of 226,180 hectares (ha) with a productivity of 60.24 quintals/ha.
Karawang Regency is in second place with rice production reaching 1.19 million tons, or 12.94%. The rice harvest area in Karawang Regency is recorded at 193,980 ha with a productivity of 61.49 quintals/ha.
Next is Subang Regency with rice production of 990,240 tons, or 10.74%. This area has a rice harvest area of 168,740 ha and productivity reaching 60.33 quintals/ha.
In total, rice production from these three major rice-producing regencies reached 3.54 million tons. This amount is equivalent to 38.45% of rice production in West Java last year.
