5 Indonesian Provinces with the Largest Rubber Plantation Areas in 2024

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the area of rubber plantations in Indonesia in 2024 reached 3.15 million hectares (ha).

Based on ownership, 2.86 million ha (90.68%) were people's plantations, 177,626 ha (5.64%) were large private plantations, and 115,961 ha (3.68%) were large state-owned plantations.

BPS stated that these 3.15 million ha are spread across 25 provinces, with South Sumatra Province having the largest area, at 770,567 ha or 24.47% of the national total.

The following are the 5 provinces with the largest areas of rubber plantations in Indonesia in 2024:

1. South Sumatra: 24.47% (770,567 ha)
2. Jambi: 11.99% (377,671 ha)
3. North Sumatra: 10.79% (339,728 ha)
4. West Kalimantan: 9.63% (303,237 ha)
5. Central Kalimantan: 8.69% (273,528 ha)

According to BPS, in 2024, Indonesia's dry rubber production reached 2.13 million tons, with South Sumatra Province remaining the largest producer at 619,546 tons or 29.06% of the national total.

Based on ownership, production from people's plantations dominated at 1.94 million tons (91.11%), followed by state-owned large plantations at 101,917 tons (4.78%) and private large plantations at 87,526 tons (4.11%).
