Presidential candidate number 01, Joko Widodo, in the second debate, mentioned the development of an internet toll infrastructure project named Palapa Ring, spanning from West to East Indonesia. The Palapa Ring project provides high-speed internet access up to 40 Mbps. "In West Indonesia, it's 100% complete; in Central Indonesia, it's 100% complete; in East Indonesia, it's 90% complete and will be finished this year," Jokowi stated.
According to data from the Ministry of Communication and Information, the Western Palapa Ring package, spanning 2,275 km, is complete and operational. Similarly, the Central package, 2,995 km long, is 100% complete but still undergoing testing.
Meanwhile, the Eastern package, 6,878 km long, is only about 90% complete and is targeted for completion this year. The incomplete Eastern package is due to security conditions and the mountainous geographical conditions in Papua and West Papua.
