The Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) has recorded the trend of Indonesia's vehicle fuel consumption from 2015 to 2020. Data elaborated from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) shows a consistently increasing trend, although it dropped in 2020 due to activity restrictions implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Of the two vehicle types included, motorcycles consumed the most fuel. Consumption reached 22.5 million kiloliters (kl) in 2015, increasing to 25.9 million kl in 2019.

In 2020, motorcycle fuel consumption dropped significantly to 22.62 million kl.

Meanwhile, passenger car fuel consumption increased from 7.91 million kl in 2015 to 9.1 million kl in 2019.

Similar to motorcycles, car fuel consumption also decreased in 2020, reaching 7.95 million kl.
