Electrification Rate of Villages in Indonesia Increased until 2024

According to a report by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the village electrification ratio in Indonesia has continued to increase in recent years.

As of 2024, there are 83,763 villages that have been supplied with electricity, equivalent to 99.92% of the total number of villages in Indonesia.

This achievement includes villages receiving electricity supply from PLN, non-PLN sources, and energy-efficient solar lamps (LTSHE).

In 2024, there are 34 out of 38 provinces in Indonesia that have a 100% village electrification ratio.

Meanwhile, the provinces with a village electrification ratio still below 100% are:

1. South Papua: 99.57%
2. Papua: 99.30%
3. Highland Papua: 98.78%
4. Central Papua: 97.68%

Through the Village Electrification (Lisdes) program, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources aims to electrify 5,758 villages, providing electricity connections for approximately 1.2 million households during the 2025–2029 period.

This program aims to improve equitable access to electricity, especially in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T).

"Access to electricity is not just about light; it can open up opportunities for learning, economic productivity, and better healthcare services. We designed Lisdes 2025-2029 to bring benefits to the farthest villages," said Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung, as reported by Katadata.co.id, Wednesday (3/9/2025).
