PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) recorded 331 million commuter line (KRL) passengers throughout 2023.
This figure represents a 38% increase from the 2022 passenger volume of 242.66 million.
However, the 2023 passenger volume remains below pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels, which reached 336.79 million in 2018 and 336.27 million in 2019.
The breakdown of the 2023 passenger volume is as follows: Jabodetabek commuter line at 290 million passengers; Yogyakarta at 7.32 million passengers; Merak at 3.61 million passengers; Bandung at 14.69 million passengers.
Then there are Prameks with 882,040 passengers; Surabaya with 13.33 million passengers, and the Basoetta commuter line with 1.96 million passengers.

The highest passenger transit volume was recorded at Manggarai Station on December 31, 2023, with 204,480 transiting passengers, while Tanah Abang Station recorded 153,270 passengers on December 30, 2023.
Meanwhile, the transit volume on January 1, 2024, at Manggarai Station reached 230,860 passengers and Tanah Abang Station at 155,000 passengers.
On the Jabodetabek line, there were 1,100 KRL trips throughout 2023. This figure shows a slight increase of 1.7% compared to 2022, which had 1,081 train trips.
