A total of 245 electric vehicles have arrived in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara. These hundreds of electric vehicles are planned to be used as the primary transportation to support the mobility of state guests during the 42nd ASEAN Summit on May 9-11, 2023.
These battery electric vehicles (BEVs) come from four automotive manufacturers: Toyota, BMW, Hyundai, and Wuling.
"The use of electric vehicles is one of the government's steps to support the electric vehicle industry, to develop green and blue energy in Indonesia," said the Secretary of the State Secretariat Ministry, Setya Utama, as quoted by Kompas (5/5/2023).
Of the total 245 electric vehicles, 117 are locally assembled Hyundai Ioniq 5s. These vehicles will be used for ministers, protocol officers, and security personnel at the ASEAN Summit.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is equipped with a 72.6 kWh lithium-ion battery capable of traveling 451 km on a single charge. Fast charging (350 kW) from 0-80% takes only about 15 minutes.
Next, there are 65 Toyota bZ4Xs that will be used for ministers and spouses of heads of state. This car can travel 500 km on a single charge. Charging from 0-80% takes about 30 minutes.
Then, there are 50 Wuling Air ev units, the highest variant or Long Range. This electric car's battery has a capacity of 26.7 kWh, capable of traveling up to 300 km on a full charge. Charging time is not much different from others, but using household electricity takes 11 hours.
Finally, there are 13 BMW iXs brought directly from Germany. This vehicle can recharge its high-voltage battery up to 20 kW. This means the car only needs a 10-minute charge to add a range of more than 90 km. Charging the battery from 0% to 80% takes less than 34 minutes.
