London topped the list as the world's most congested city in 2021, according to a report by traffic data analytics firm INRIX. People lost a recorded 148 hours in traffic jams in the British capital.
Paris ranked as the world's second most congested city. Traffic jams in the French capital caused drivers to lose 140 hours.
Next, Brussels occupied the third position as the world's most congested city. Drivers lost 134 hours due to traffic congestion in the Belgian capital.
Moscow, the capital of Russia, ranked fourth as the world's most congested city. The INRIX report indicated that drivers in Moscow lost 108 hours due to traffic congestion.
New York ranked fifth as the world's most congested city. Drivers in one of the most populous cities in the United States lost a recorded 102 hours due to traffic congestion.
Inrix conducted research in over 1,000 cities across 50 countries worldwide. This report, titled "Global Traffic Scorecard 2021," utilized anonymous GPS probe data to identify the most frequently visited routes and destinations across regions, creating a more accurate picture of travel within an area, not just to and from city centers.
