PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has proposed a fare increase. The proposal originated from the Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ) on Monday, April 11, 2023.
A fare increase of Rp4,000 and Rp5,000 during peak hours (7:01 AM - 10:00 AM and 4:01 PM - 9:00 PM) is being proposed. Currently, the Transjakarta fare is Rp3,500 per trip.
The proposal was publicly released, and the public could participate in a survey by scanning a QR code and link provided on Transjakarta's social media accounts, as reported by Liputan6.com.
However, the proposal has been met with widespread public rejection, particularly from the working class. On Twitter, people criticized the increase, citing the insufficient number of operating Transjakarta buses and inadequate bus stop facilities.
