Jasa Marga recorded 345,448 vehicles returning to the Jabodetabek area during the 2024 New Year holiday period, from December 31, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
This figure is an accumulation of traffic flow from four main toll gates: Cikupa (from Merak), Ciawi (from Puncak), Cikampek Utama (from Trans Java), and Kalihurip Utama (from Bandung).
"The total volume of traffic returning to the Jabodetabek area increased by 7.72% compared to the normal traffic volume of 320,698 vehicles," said Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, as reported by Tempo.co on Tuesday (2/1/2024).
Lisye continued that the total traffic volume during this year's period increased by 10.04% compared to the same period last year, which was 313,935 vehicles.
She stated that the majority of vehicles returning to the Jabodetabek area originated from the east (Trans Java and Bandung), totaling 186,864 vehicles, or 54.09% of the total. Then, 79,817 vehicles (23.11%) came from the south (Puncak), and 78,767 vehicles (22.80%) from the west (Merak). The details are as follows:
* Eastbound (Trans Java and Bandung)
Traffic returning to Jabodetabek from Trans Java via the Cikampek Utama toll gate on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road totaled 98,474 vehicles. This figure surged by 43.69% from normal traffic.
Meanwhile, traffic returning to Jabodetabek from Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama toll gate on the Cipularang toll road was recorded at 88,390 vehicles. This figure increased by 10.43% from normal traffic.
The total traffic returning to Jabodetabek through these two toll gates was 186,864 vehicles, a 25.77% increase from normal traffic.
* Westbound (Merak)
78,767 vehicles returned to Jabodetabek via the Cikupa toll gate on the Tangerang-Merak toll road. This traffic flow decreased by 14.99% compared to normal traffic.
* Southbound (Puncak)
79,817 vehicles returned to Jabodetabek via the Ciawi toll gate on the Jagorawi toll road. This traffic flow increased slightly by 0.43% compared to normal traffic.
Lisye stated that at the peak of the return flow on January 1, 2024, 219,000 vehicles returned to Jabodetabek from the Cikupa, Kalihurip Utama, Ciawi, and Cikampek Utama toll gates. "This number is up 10.49% from the peak return flow in the same period last year, which was 198,000 vehicles," she said.
She continued that Jasa Marga offered a 10% toll discount for the return trip on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. The discount applied to the Trans Java Toll Road for continuous return trips from Semarang to Jakarta, from the Kalikangkung toll gate to the Cikampek Utama toll gate.
"The toll discount is valid from 00.00 WIB to 24.00 WIB, or 24 hours, and applies to all vehicle classes," said Lisye.
