The Central Statistics Agency reported that the number of train passengers departing in September 2022 reached 25.6 million, a 5.27% increase compared to August 2022. Cumulatively, the number of train passengers from January to September 2022 reached 192.8 million, an 85.76% increase compared to the same period in 2021.
The increase in passenger numbers during the January-September 2022 period occurred in all regions: Jabodetabek (71.35%), non-Jabodetabek Java (179.66%), and Sumatra (82.28%).
Meanwhile, the number of train passengers departing in Java and Sumatra in September 2022 totaled 25.6 million, a 5.27% increase compared to the previous month. Of this number, the majority were Jabodetabek commuters, totaling 20.6 million or 80.52% of the total train passengers.
The increase in passenger numbers in September 2022 occurred in all regions: Jabodetabek (6.18%), non-Jabodetabek Java (1.06%), and Sumatra (8.70%).
In contrast to passenger numbers, the amount of goods transported by train decreased by 0.73% to 5.5 million tons. From January to September 2022, the number of passengers reached 192.8 million, a rise of 85.76% compared to the same period in 2021. Similarly, the amount of goods transported by train increased by 15.22% to 45.2 million tons.
