The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) reported that 13,744,563 people using public transportation traveled for the Idul Fitri homecoming (mudik) and return journey between D-8 and D+6 (April 14-29, 2023). Air transportation recorded the highest number of passengers at 3,862,605, accounting for 28.1% of the total public transportation passengers during the 2023 Idul Fitri homecoming.
This was followed by river, lake, and ferry transportation (ASDP) with 3,406,676 passengers.
Road transportation recorded 2,783,980 passengers, followed by rail transportation with 2,537,990 passengers, and sea transportation with 1,142,157 passengers.

Specifically, on D+6 of Idul Fitri, passenger movement was dominated by air transportation, with 257,135 passengers (34.43% of the total public transportation users). This was followed by road transportation with 180,256 passengers (22.73%), rail transportation with 170,879 passengers (21.55%), ferry transportation with 103,332 passengers (13.03%), and sea transportation with 81,389 passengers (10.26%).
1.5 Million Vehicles Return to Jabodetabek
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded 1,589,499 vehicles returning to the Jabodetabek area between April 24-29, 2023.
This vehicle count was monitored from four main toll gates: Cikupa Toll Gate (from Merak), Ciawi Toll Gate (from Puncak), Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (from Trans Java), and Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate (from Bandung).
However, the number of vehicles that have returned to Jabodetabek only reached 77.35% of the predicted return flow of 2 million vehicles during the period of D1 to D+8 at the four main toll gates. Therefore, approximately 22.65%, or about 465,473 vehicles, have yet to return to Jabodetabek via the Trans-Java Toll Road by the end of the week.
