In February 2018, Gojek, an online transportation service provider, reportedly secured its fifth round of funding. According to Katadata sources, this investment totaled US$1.5 billion, or approximately Rp 20 trillion. The consortium was predominantly comprised of foreign investors, including Google Inc.
Local investors participating in this funding round included Astra International and the Djarum Group. Astra International, Indonesia's largest automotive company, invested US$150-170 million (approximately Rp 2.1 trillion), while the Djarum Group invested US$100-200 million (approximately Rp 1.5 trillion).
According to Techinasia, the company founded by Nadiem Makarim in 2010 had received four previous funding rounds between 2015 and 2017. Three of these were undisclosed: in June 2015 from NSI Ventures, in October 2015 from Sequoia Capital, and in August 2017 from Tencent and JD.com. In August 2016, Gojek received US$550 million in disclosed funding from a consortium led by Sequoia Capital.
