The Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT), will officially commence full operations on August 18, 2023. The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has determined the fare structure for this newest mode of transportation in Indonesia, although it hasn't yet been officially formalized through a ministerial decree (Kepmen).
Ministry of Transportation spokesperson Adita Irawati stated that the Jabodebek LRT fare, as stipulated in the upcoming Kepmen, will be Rp5,000 for the first kilometer and Rp700 for each subsequent kilometer.
"Yes, this calculation is included in the Kepmen," Adita said, as quoted by Kompas.com on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
Meanwhile, the fare for the longest Jabodebek LRT route will range from Rp20,000 to Rp25,000, depending on the final destination. This is because the Jabodebek LRT has different terminal stations: Harjamukti Station, Cibubur Station, and Jati Mulya Station in Bekasi.
Although the fare has been set, Adita stated that the ministry still needs to finalize the decision through a ministerial decree. Only after the issuance of the Kepmen will the Jabodebek LRT fare be publicized.
However, Adita declined to specify when the Kepmen will be issued. "The fare setting is still undergoing finalization of its legal aspects. The amount has been determined; now it's just a matter of administration," she said.
The Jabodebek LRT will conduct a soft launch or trial run with a fare of Rp1 from July 12 to August 15. This information was announced via the Instagram account @lrt_jabodebek.
"Hi, Raina friends! For Raina friends who are curious to use the Jabodebek LRT, wait for the registration link on all our social media on July 10, 2023!" stated the @lrt.jabodebek account on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
However, at the time of writing, the registration link for the trial run has not yet been shared.
