President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has issued Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery-Based Electric Vehicles (EVs) as Official Vehicles for the Central and Regional Governments.
The Inpres, signed by President Jokowi on September 13, 2022, aims to accelerate the implementation of the program using battery electric vehicles (BEVs) as operational official vehicles/personal official vehicles for central and regional government institutions.
Electric cars are more expensive than cars using fossil fuels (BBM) because they are still in the transition phase from fossil fuels (BBM) to electricity. Furthermore, the infrastructure for recharging batteries is not yet evenly available.
The following are the prices of the cheapest electric cars in the United States, using an exchange rate of Rp14,889 per US dollar:
1. Kia Niro EV: Rp501.57 million
2. Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE SR RWD: Rp498.00 million
3. Chevrolet Bolt EV: Rp476.69 million
4. Nissan LEAF e+ SV (62 kWh): Rp460.01 million
5. Hyundai Kona Electric: Rp412.48 million
6. Mazda MX-30: Rp404.43 million
7. Hyundai IONIQ Electric: Rp398.55 million
8. Nissan LEAF e+ S (62 kWh): Rp385.51 million
9. MINI Cooper SE: Rp346.40 million
10. Nissan LEAF S (40 kWh): Rp311.02 million
The acceleration program for the use of BEVs should be accompanied by the provision of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) to ensure user comfort.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), there are currently 332 SPKLUs at 279 public locations. There are also 369 Public Electric Vehicle Battery Swapping Stations (SPBKLU) throughout Indonesia.
