February 2026, Total Air Passengers on All Routes from Indonesia Decline

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the performance of air passenger transport on all routes, both domestic and international, in Indonesia declined in February 2026.

BPS detailed that the total number of domestic air passengers from a number of airports in Indonesia reached 4.08 million people. This passenger volume plummeted by 17.05% month-on-month (MoM) from January 2026, which was 4.92 million people.

The decline in passenger numbers occurred in all major airports observed, namely Kualanamu-Medan Airport, which fell by 29.57%; Ngurah Rai-Denpasar by 25.02%; Hasanuddin-Makassar by 23.88%; Juanda-Surabaya by 19.45%; and Soekarno Hatta-Tangerang by 10.47%.

In terms of quantity, the largest number of passengers on this route was at Soekarno Hatta-Tangerang Airport, reaching 1.2 million people or 28.84% of the total domestic passengers.

During January-February 2026, the number of domestic air passengers reached 9 million people, a decrease of 5.09% compared to the same period last year (year-on-year/YoY) of 9.5 million people.

Subsequently, the number of international air passengers was recorded at 1.51 million people, a decrease of 15.24% (MoM).

Like the domestic route, the decline in the number of international passengers occurred in all major airports observed, namely Juanda-Surabaya Airport, which fell by 20.56%; Hasanuddin-Makassar by 20%; Kualanamu-Medan by 16.81%; Soekarno Hatta-Tangerang by 15.79%; and Ngurah Rai-Denpasar by 13.67%.

Despite the decline, Soekarno Hatta Airport still contributed the most international passengers, namely 668,400 people or 44.24% of the total international passengers.

In cumulative terms for January-February 2026, the number of air transport passengers traveling abroad, whether using domestic or foreign flights, reached 3.29 million people, a decrease of 0.95% (YoY).
