10 Indonesian Train Stations with the Most Foreign Tourists in 2025

According to PT KAI's report, there were 694,123 foreign tourists (wisman) who used long-distance train services in Indonesia throughout 2025.

This figure increased by 3.7% compared to 2024, when the number was 669,226 people.

According to Anne Purba, Vice President of Corporate Communication at PT KAI, foreign tourists using trains not only travel, but also bring potential foreign exchange through tourism spending, accommodation, culinary experiences, and local products.

"At the same time, train travel supports more environmentally friendly journeys, allowing tourism to grow without compromising sustainability," said Anne in a press release on Sunday (January 11, 2026).

Last year, the peak use of trains by foreign tourists occurred in July 2025 with 89,526 passengers, and August 2025 with 89,116 passengers. This coincides with increased international tourist mobility during holiday seasons.

The highest number of foreign tourists departed from Yogyakarta Station, with 126,768 passengers, equivalent to 18% of the total foreign tourist passengers.

2. Gambir Station: 114,877 passengers
3. Bandung Station: 70,271 passengers
4. Pasar Senen Station: 38,669 passengers
5. Surabaya Gubeng Station: 31,713 passengers
6. Malang Station: 25,874 passengers
7. Semarang Tawang Station: 23,695 passengers
8. Probolinggo Station: 20,540 passengers
9. Surabaya Pasar Turi Station: 14,798 passengers
10. Solo Balapan Station: 13,566 passengers

According to Anne, these stations serve as key hubs for travel to tourist, cultural, natural, and urban areas.

"Trains ensure that the benefits of tourism foreign exchange do not just stop at the country's entry points, but flow through to the destination regions," she said.
