According to Counterpoint, global electric vehicle (EV) sales surged rapidly in Q3 2025, increasing by 32% year-on-year (yoy).

Of these sales, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) continued to dominate, accounting for two-thirds of total EV sales.

According to Counterpoint, BYD Auto maintained its position in the global BEV market with nearly 0.6 million units sold, an increase of 33% yoy in Q3 2025.

Meanwhile, Tesla ranked second globally with sales volume increasing by 7% yoy in Q3 2025.

Geely Holdings secured third place, recording a growth of 51% yoy in Q3 2025.

"Its strategy of combining affordable pricing with advanced software features continues to attract domestic buyers, enabling Geely to keep gaining market share in the increasingly competitive Chinese market," Counterpoint explained.

By country, China remained the primary growth engine, accounting for 60% of all global BEV sales, followed by Europe and the United States (US).
