The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that domestic air travel in Indonesia strengthened in July 2025. The number of passengers reached 5.46 million, a 9.21% increase month-on-month (mom) from 5 million in the previous month.
The BPS report detailed that passenger numbers increased across all major airports observed, with the largest increases at Ngurah Rai-Denpasar Airport (17.04%); Kualanamu-Medan Airport (11.69%); Soekarno Hatta-Tangerang Airport (11.51%); Hasanuddin-Makassar Airport (11.31%); and Juanda-Surabaya Airport (8.79%).
Soekarno Hatta-Tangerang Airport had the highest number of domestic passengers, reaching 1.5 million or 27.11% of the total domestic passengers, followed by Juanda-Surabaya Airport with 476,300 passengers (8.71%).
From January to July 2025, the number of domestic air passengers totaled 34.3 million, a 6.13% decrease year-on-year (yoy) compared to the same period last year (36.5 million).
International flights showed a similar trend, reaching 1.8 million passengers in July 2025, a surge of 10.16% (mom) from 1.65 million in June 2025.
The most significant passenger increases were observed at Hasanuddin-Makassar Airport (159.42%); Juanda-Surabaya Airport (22.90%); Soekarno Hatta-Tangerang Airport (10.97%); and Ngurah Rai-Denpasar Airport (5.51%). However, Kualanamu-Medan Airport saw a decrease of 0.30%.
Soekarno Hatta-Tangerang Airport had the highest number of international passengers, reaching 756,400 or 41.47% of the total international passengers, followed by Ngurah Rai-Denpasar Airport with 720,500 passengers (39.50%).
Cumulatively, from January to July 2025, the number of international air passengers, using both domestic and foreign airlines, reached 11.6 million, a 9.94% increase (yoy) from the cumulative period of the previous year (10.52 million passengers).
