PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI reported that the volume of train passengers during the first semester of 2025 reached 240.90 million people.
The figure grew 8.90% compared to the first semester of last year which served 221.20 million passengers.
"This is not just a matter of numerical growth, but about public trust growing through a safe, comfortable and connected travel experience," said KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba in a written statement, Tuesday (8/7/2025).
In the first half of this year, most train passengers came from the Commuter Line, with a total of 179.16 million passengers.
The following is a complete list of KAI passengers during the first semester of 2025:
- Commuter Line: 179,165,922 passengers
- JJ & Local Trains: 27,463,555 passengers
- LRT Jabodebek: 13,040,403 passengers
- KAI Airport: 3,448,622 passengers
- South Sumatra LRT: 2,227,144 passengers
- Makassar-Parepare Train: 149,035 passengers
- KAI Tourism: 100,176 passengers.
The high volume of KAI passengers is partly driven by consistent on time performance (OTP).
In the first semester of 2025, the level of punctuality of train departures reached 99.51% and the punctuality of arrivals was 96.25%.
"This is what we continue to maintain and improve, so that KAI is not only the first choice of public transportation, but also a mobility partner that can always be relied on," said Anne.
