According to a Populix survey, as of January 2022, approximately 29% of respondents planned to purchase an electric motorcycle. Another 31% of respondents planned to buy an electric car within the next five years.
This survey was conducted from January 3-9, 2022, involving 1,002 Indonesian citizens; 523 men and 479 women, aged 18 to 55 years old.
The main reason driving respondents to buy and use electric vehicles is environmental concerns.
As many as 77% of respondents are interested in using electric vehicles because they are environmentally friendly, and 40% are aiming for zero carbon emissions.
36% of respondents chose electric vehicles due to rising fuel prices, and 31% because of lower maintenance costs.
Furthermore, 29% of respondents want to use electric vehicles because of their durable batteries, 22% because of lower travel costs, 17% because of the availability of electric vehicle charging stations, and 13% because they want to follow the trend.
The majority of respondents also believe that electric vehicles will become increasingly environmentally friendly, the vehicles of the future, and will reduce the demand for fossil fuels.
