PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded 681,611 vehicles leaving the Jabodetabek area during the period of February 7-10, 2024, covering the Isra Miraj long holiday and the 2024 Lunar New Year.
"This figure is the cumulative traffic flow from four main toll gates (GT): Cikupa (towards Merak), Ciawi (towards Puncak), Cikampek Utama (towards Trans Java), and Kalihurip Utama (towards Bandung)," said Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, as reported by Antara on Sunday (February 11, 2024).
The total volume of traffic leaving the Jabodetabek area increased by 14.32% compared to the normal traffic volume of 596,215 vehicles.
According to Lisye, the majority of outbound traffic from Jabodetabek during that period headed east (Trans Java and Bandung) with 322,466 vehicles (47.31%), followed by west (Merak) with 192,638 vehicles (28.26%), and south (Puncak) with 166,507 vehicles (24.43%).
The details are as follows: traffic leaving Jabodetabek towards Trans Java via the Cikampek Utama toll gate on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road totaled 156,454 vehicles, a surge of 37.44% from normal traffic. This was followed by traffic towards Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama toll gate on the Cipularang toll road, with 166,012 vehicles, a 21.38% increase from normal traffic.
In total, traffic leaving Jabodetabek towards Trans Java and Bandung via these two toll gates amounted to 322,466 vehicles, a 28.67% increase from normal traffic.
The number of vehicles leaving Jabodetabek towards Puncak via the Ciawi toll gate on the Jagorawi toll road was recorded at 166,507 vehicles, an increase of 8.19% from normal traffic.
Meanwhile, traffic leaving Jabodetabek towards Merak via the Cikupa toll gate on the Tangerang-Merak toll road was 192,638 vehicles, a slight increase of 0.49% from normal traffic.
Lisye stated that on Lunar New Year's Day, Saturday (February 10, 2024), the number of vehicles returning to the Jabodetabek area began to increase compared to those leaving.
“We recorded 170,186 vehicles returning to the Jabodetabek area on that day, which is the cumulative traffic flow from the four main toll gates, an increase of 19.39% compared to normal traffic (142,551 vehicles),” said Lisye.
She predicted that Sunday (February 11, 2024) would see a further increase in traffic towards Jabodetabek, which was predicted to be the peak of the return flow. However, she did not yet provide the total volume of traffic during yesterday's peak return flow.
