Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) celebrated its first anniversary of returning to the Indonesian automotive market in November 2023. The Chinese car brand had previously disappeared from the domestic market in 2011.
According to the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), Chery's wholesale sales (from domestic market to dealers) reached 3,609 units from January to October 2023.
The Omda 5 RS model dominated Chery's car sales, with 2,192 units sold, contributing 60.73% of total sales during January-October 2023.
The Omda 5 RZ followed in second place, selling 547 units or 15.16% of total sales.
Next was the Tiggo 8 Pro Premium, completing the top three best-selling Chery models during this period, with sales of 423 units, contributing 11.97% to total sales.
With these achievements, Chery became the 13th best-selling car in Indonesia, with a market share of 0.4% during the period.
"We have truly used this one year to build a strong foundation. Because we want to make a significant contribution to the development of the automotive industry in Indonesia in the long term," said CSI Executive Vice President Qu Jizong in an official statement, as reported by Kompas.com on Wednesday (November 15, 2023).
