January-April 2017, Car Sales Increased by 6 Percent

Indonesia's car sales market continues to grow. Based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), sales from factory to dealer in April 2017 reached 89,580 units. This figure represents a 5.68 percent increase compared to the same month last year. During the first four months of this year, car sales reached 373,407 units, a 6.05 percent increase compared to the same period last year, which totaled 352,072 units.

Although April sales fell 12.46 percent compared to the previous month, the year-on-year increase has strengthened Gaikindo's optimism in achieving its target of 1.1 million units this year. The April achievement was quite satisfying for industry players. Especially since the majority of authorized dealers (APM) predict that sales in June will plummet in line with the reduced working days due to the Lebaran holiday. In the last two years, sales in July have always plummeted and have been the lowest point of each year.
