According to the latest data from the eco-friendly technology website, CleanTechnica, China dominated the list of the world's best-selling electric vehicles throughout September 2023. Eight out of the top ten best-selling electric vehicles globally during that period were manufactured by BYD Automotive and GAC Group.
CleanTechnica recorded that global electric vehicle sales in September 2023 reached 1.29 million units, a 23% increase year-on-year (YoY).
The Tesla Model Y remained the best-selling electric vehicle worldwide in September 2023, with sales of 121,258 units. Its sibling, the Tesla Model 3, dropped to eighth place from the previous month, with sales of 26,058 units.
Six BYD electric vehicles made the list of best-selling electric vehicles in September 2023. The BYD Song ranked second with sales of 63,800 units.
Next, the BYD Qin Plus sold 43,010 units, the BYD Yuan Plus 35,378 units, the BYD Seagull 35,012 units, and the BYD Dolphin 27,240 units, occupying third to sixth positions respectively. The BYD Han ranked ninth with sales of 22,936 units.
Other Chinese electric vehicles, the GAC Aion Y and Aion 5, also made the list of best-selling electric vehicles in September 2023.
