Material Losses Due to Accidents Increased Through October 2021

The Indonesian National Police's Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) recorded 83,694 traffic accidents from January to October 2021. This is lower than the 100,028 cases recorded throughout 2020.

The number decreased by 1.45% compared to January-October 2020, during which period Korlantas Polri recorded 84,923 traffic accidents nationwide.

However, material losses due to accidents totaled Rp 199.01 billion from January to October 2021. This is higher than the Rp 198.4 billion in material losses throughout 2020.

The value increased by 21.55% compared to January-October 2020, during which period material losses from traffic accidents amounted to Rp 163.73 billion.

On average, material losses from traffic accidents in January-October 2021 reached Rp 16.58 billion per month, or Rp 552.81 million per day.

To reduce the number of accidents, Korlantas Polri has prepared four steps. First, optimizing the collection of coordinate data on traffic accident locations to gather accurate records. Second, identifying accident-prone areas or black spots. Third, professionally enforcing traffic regulations. Fourth, improving education for road users.
