Based on a report by the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), domestic motorcycle sales in Indonesia increased by 4.2% month-on-month towards the end of the year. Motorcycle sales rose from 444,726 units in October to 463,586 units in November 2021.
This follows two consecutive months of decline. Motorcycle sales in September 2021 fell by 1.15% month-on-month to 464,614 units. Then, in October, motorcycle sales decreased again by 4.3% to 444,726 units.
In contrast to the increase in domestic sales, motorcycle exports from Indonesia decreased in November 2021. The volume of motorcycle exports last month was 55,956 units, down 30.3% compared to October 2021, which saw 80,327 units exported.
The November 2021 motorcycle export volume was the second lowest in the last year. The lowest motorcycle export volume occurred in May 2021 at 42,647 units.
Meanwhile, the highest domestic motorcycle sales volume was achieved in March 2021. At that time, 521,424 motorcycles were sold domestically.
Cumulatively, national motorcycle sales reached 4,101,504 units from January to November 2021. Scooter sales contributed 87.51% of total national motorcycle sales.
Underbone motorcycle sales contributed only 6.36%. Meanwhile, the proportion of sport motorcycle sales was 6.12%.
Meanwhile, the volume of motorcycle exports reached 762,359 units from January to November 2021. 70.48% of total motorcycle distribution was scooters, 17.32% sport motorcycles, and 12.19% underbone motorcycles.
