PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, served approximately 4.39 million passengers during the 2024 Lebaran holiday season, from March 31 to April 21, 2024.
During this period, the number of long-distance train passengers reached 3.74 million, while local train passengers totaled 649,239.
"The number of passengers during the 22-day 2024 Lebaran transportation period increased by 14% compared to the 2023 Lebaran transportation period," said KAI VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus in a press release on Monday, April 22, 2024.
Economy class trains were the most popular choice among passengers this Lebaran season, with 3.17 million passengers. Executive class transported 1.04 million passengers, and business class 172,900 passengers.
There were also 12,900 passengers in luxury class and 1,570 passengers in compartment suite class.
Joni stated that the most popular routes during the 2024 Lebaran transportation period were Jakarta-Surabaya round trip (PP), Jakarta-Malang PP, Jakarta-Yogyakarta PP, Jakarta-Purwokerto PP, Jakarta-Semarang PP, and Bandung-Surabaya PP.
