According to data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), wholesale sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the domestic market reached 298 units in January 2023.

Electric vehicle sales have the potential to strengthen further in the coming months. The government has issued regulations regarding incentives for the purchase of battery-based electric vehicles (KBLBB).
"This incentive is intended to accelerate the KBLBB industry in Indonesia. This acceleration is aimed at promoting energy efficiency and resilience, as well as achieving clean and environmentally friendly air quality," said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan in a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, March 6, 2023.
However, the incentive for purchasing electric vehicles is not a cash subsidy, but rather a tax adjustment. The incentive will be given for 35,900 electric vehicles and will be effective starting March 20, 2023.
