PT Transportasi Jakarta, or Transjakarta, has been reported to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding alleged corruption in its ticketing financial management system.
According to a report by Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ) member Musa Emyus, the corruption occurred through double deductions from passenger balances upon entry (tap in) and exit (tap out) of Transjakarta services, when only one deduction should have been made.
"In early October, there were two deductions, one at tap-in and one at tap-out. That's what we're questioning, and we've already filed a report," said Musa, as quoted by Detik.com on Monday (November 14, 2022).
Musa estimates this has caused significant losses for the public. "Transjakarta claims there are 800,000 users a day. If we assume 2,000 users in the morning, that's a loss of Rp1.6 billion per day," Musa stated, as quoted by Kompas.com on Monday (November 14, 2022).
Musa also highlighted the payment gateway system used by PT Transjakarta with a third party, instead of Bank DKI. He argued that payments should be managed by PT Transjakarta with Bank DKI, which has a payment gateway license.
"So the money goes to them (the third party) first. If there was good faith, PT Transjakarta could cooperate with Bank DKI," said Musa.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), PT Transjakarta earned Rp173.74 billion in 2021. This is down from Rp280.27 billion the previous year.
PT Transjakarta's revenue has also fallen sharply compared to the pre-pandemic period. In 2019, the transportation company's revenue reached Rp672.14 billion.
