According to data from automotive consulting firm Focus2Move, the Tesla Model Y topped the list of the world's best-selling cars from January to May 2023.
Elon Musk's electric vehicle surged compared to last year, when it ranked 9th globally during the January-May 2022 period.
Tesla Model Y sales from January to May 2023 totaled 427,524 units, an 85.3% increase year-on-year (YoY).
The Toyota Corolla, last year's champion, came in second, with sales reaching 410,732 units, a 6.6% YoY decrease.
The Ford F-Series took third place with sales of 358,945 units, a 24.6% YoY increase.
The Toyota RAV4 followed in fourth place with sales of 324,061 units, down 11.1% YoY.
In fifth place was the Chevrolet Silverado, recording sales of 252,545 units, a 2.5% YoY increase.
