According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), India is the world's largest importer of palm oil, with imports reaching US$5.1 billion in 2020. This contributed 15.14% to the total global palm oil imports.
China is the second largest importer of palm oil, with imports valued at US$4.1 billion (12.19%), followed by Pakistan in third place with US$2.1 billion (6.24%).
The Netherlands is in fourth place with palm oil imports of US$1.8 billion (5.5%). Spain is fifth with US$1.3 billion (4.13%).
The next largest importers of palm oil are Italy at US$1.2 billion (3.69%), the United States at US$1.1 billion (3.23%), and Bangladesh at US$896.8 million (2.65%).
These eight countries cumulatively contributed 52.77% to the total value of global palm oil imports. The total value of global palm oil imports amounted to US$33.8 billion in 2020.
