Indonesia's Trade Balance Records Deficit with These 3 Countries in September 2022

Indonesia's trade balance recorded a surplus of US$4.99 billion in September 2022. However, Indonesia recorded trade deficits with Australia, Thailand, and Brazil.

Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports to Australia only reached US$258.4 million in September 2022. Meanwhile, Indonesia's imports from Australia reached US$905.9 million in September 2022. As a result, Indonesia recorded a trade deficit with Australia of US$647.5 million last month.

The following are the largest non-oil and gas imports from Australia in September 2022:

* Mineral fuels (Harmonized System/HS 27): US$189.2 million
* Cereals (HS 10): US$165.4 million
* Precious metals and jewelry/gems (HS 71): US$91.1 million

Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports to Thailand amounted to US$503.8 million, while imports from Thailand reached US$837.8 million. Thus, Indonesia recorded a trade deficit with Thailand of US$334 million.

The following are the largest non-oil and gas imports from Thailand in September 2022:

* Machinery and mechanical appliances and parts (HS 84): US$110.1 million
* Plastics and plastic articles (HS 39): US$102.0 million
* Vehicles and parts (HS 87): US$74.4 million

Indonesia also recorded a trade deficit with Brazil of US$263.1 million in September 2022. Indonesia's non-oil and gas exports to Brazil were only US$141 million, while imports from Brazil reached US$404.1 million.
