Indonesia's Exports in April 2018 Decreased by 7% from the Previous Month

Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported that the value of exports in April 2018 decreased by 7.19% to US$14.47 billion compared to the previous month. However, compared to the same month last year, it increased by 9.01%. Cumulatively, the export value for the January-April 2018 period grew by 8.77% to US$58.74 billion from US$54 billion in the same period of 2017.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's import value in April of this year increased by 11.28% to US$16.1 billion compared to the previous month and also grew by 34.68% compared to the same month last year. This import value is the highest since January 2015. Cumulatively, the import value in the first four months of this year grew by 23.65% to US$60.05 billion from US$48.57 billion in the first four months of last year.

For the January-April 2018 period, the value of oil and gas exports decreased by 11.32% to US$1.9 billion compared to US$1.34 billion in the same period of the previous year. Similarly, the value of non-oil and gas exports decreased by 6.8% to US$13.28 billion from US$14.25 billion. Meanwhile, the value of oil and gas imports in the January-April period of this year grew by 10.07% to US$9.05 billion from US$8.22 billion, and the value of non-oil and gas imports increased by 26.42% to US$51 billion from US$40.32 billion.
