Indonesia's fruit production isn't solely domestically sourced. The country also imports this commodity from various countries worldwide.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that Indonesia imported 775.4 million kilograms (kg) of fruit in 2021. China was the largest supplier, with a volume of 514.9 million kg, or 66.4%.
Thailand ranked second, with fruit imports totaling 58.3 million kg (7.5%). The United States followed, with fruit imports of 34.9 million kg (4.5%).
Fruit imports from Pakistan to Indonesia totaled 33.1 million kg (4.2%). From Australia, Indonesia imported 31.3 million kg (4%).
Other countries of origin for Indonesian fruit imports include Egypt (24.1 million kg), South Africa (13 million kg), New Zealand (7.8 million kg), and Vietnam (2.8 million kg).
