According to data from Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's gold export performance has tended to weaken in recent years.
In 2015, Indonesia exported 37.14 tons of gold, valued at US$1.38 billion.
Subsequently, the trend briefly increased, with Indonesia's gold exports reaching 101 tons, valued at US$5.54 billion, in 2020.
However, after that, its performance gradually declined. As of 2024, Indonesia's gold export volume was only 13.76 tons, valued at US$1.06 billion.
The 2024 figure is lower than a decade ago, as shown in the chart.
In 2024, Indonesia exported gold to four countries, namely:
- Singapore: 10.09 tons (US$782.32 million)
- Hong Kong: 3.42 tons (US$260.95 million)
- Switzerland: 0.14 tons (US$10.72 million)
- Thailand: 0.10 tons (US$8.18 million)
The figures recorded here represent exports of gold under HS code 7108, which is unwrought or semi-manufactured gold, including platinum-plated gold, gold bars/ingots, gold powder, and other semi-manufactured forms of gold.
