Indonesian MSMEs Export Transactions from the Ministry of Trade's Business Matching Program, First Semester 2025

Business matching initiatives spearheaded by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) have driven US$87.04 million in Indonesian MSMEs export transactions during the first half of 2025.

This figure comprises purchase orders (POs) worth US$52.70 million and potential transactions valued at US$34.34 million.

"Business matching is a concrete strategy for connecting Indonesian MSMEs with international buyers. Kemendag facilitates and acts as a catalyst for MSMEs to upgrade and become globally competitive," said Minister of Trade Budi Santoso in a press release (July 9, 2025).

From January to June 2025, Kemendag conducted 356 business matching events, including 241 business presentations and 115 direct meetings between MSMEs and buyers from various countries.

All these activities were facilitated by the Directorate General of National Export Development (Ditjen PEN) of Kemendag, in collaboration with 46 Indonesian trade representatives in 33 partner countries.

Director General of PEN Kemendag, Fajarini Puntodewi, stated that in June 2025 alone, UMKM export transactions reached US$18.39 million from 16 buyers in 8 partner trading countries.

During that month, 140 MSMEs participated in 60 business matching events. The leading sectors were fashion, coffee, cocoa powder, home décor, batik and furniture products, fiberboard, jelly, pharmaceuticals, and other processed food and beverages.

"We want to ensure that MSMEs are not only able to penetrate international markets but also become sustainable exporters and grow into global players," she said.
