Here are the 10 Provinces with the Most Shopping Centers in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in its 2020 Directory of Markets and Shopping Centers report stated that there were 649 shopping centers in Indonesia. Of this number, the most shopping centers were located in West Java, reaching 118 units or 18.18% of the total in Indonesia.

Second place was occupied by DKI Jakarta with 96 shopping centers or 14.79%. Then, there were 77 shopping centers or 11.86% in East Java.

Central Java and Banten each had 55 units (7.86%) and 43 units (6.63%) of shopping centers respectively. Furthermore, there were 23 shopping centers or 3.54% located in North Sumatra.

East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi each had 18 shopping centers or 2.77%. Meanwhile, Riau had 16 shopping centers or 2.62%.

According to their commodity groups, 430 shopping centers traded textiles or textile goods. 99 shopping centers traded beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco.

There were 71 shopping centers that traded electronics and household goods. Then, 33 units were shopping centers that traded food.

One shopping center traded school supplies and office stationery. Meanwhile, there were 15 shopping centers that traded other commodities.

Based on their management, 620 shopping centers were managed by private parties. There were 30 shopping centers managed by local governments/BUMDs/traditional authorities. Meanwhile, seven other units had no information on their management.
