The import value also plummeted from US$15.34 million in April 2021 to only US$780,000 in April 2022.

"Indonesia's wheat imports in April 2022 decreased compared to April 2021, or year-on-year," stated BPS Head Margo Yuwono in a press conference on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Cumulatively, throughout 2021, Indonesia's wheat import realization from India reached US$100.97 million with a volume of 318.47 million tons.

The ban on wheat exports from India starting in May 2022 is expected to impact not only Indonesia but also the global market.

India is one of the world's largest wheat-producing countries.
