Bekasi Ranks Among Top 10 Cities with Fastest Internet in Southeast Asia, Outperforming Jakarta

The Speedtest Global Index has released its latest report ranking countries and cities with the fastest internet speeds globally, based on average download speeds. In Southeast Asia, Bekasi City is among the top 10 cities with the fastest fixed broadband download speeds, outperforming the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

Bekasi City ranks 10th in Southeast Asia with an average fixed broadband download speed of 27.04 Mbps. South Jakarta follows in 11th place with an average fixed broadband download speed of 27.00 Mbps.

Two Thai cities topped the list. Bangkok and Chon Buri boasted the fastest average fixed broadband download speeds in the ASEAN region, with 217.19 Mbps and 188.25 Mbps respectively. Kuala Lumpur (89.38 Mbps) and Johor Bahru (85.03 Mbps) secured third and fourth place.

Note: The Speedtest Global Index includes two cities from each country in its ranking of the world's fastest internet. Included cities must have a population exceeding 500,000.

The Speedtest rankings for both countries and cities are categorized into mobile internet and fixed broadband. In the September 2022 report, two Chinese cities topped the rankings. Shanghai led in mobile internet speeds globally with 158.63 Mbps, while Beijing led in fixed broadband speeds with 238.86 Mbps.
