This is the Difference in Digital Literacy in West, Central, and East Indonesia

The Indonesian western population demonstrates superior proficiency in utilizing digital information and communication technology compared to other regions.

This is evident from the results of the 2022 Indonesian Digital Literacy Index measurement released by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) and the Katadata Insight Center (KIC), titled *Status Literasi Digital di Indonesia 2022*.

Cumulatively, the Indonesian western population achieved a digital literacy index score of 3.56 points on a scale of 1-5. East Indonesia scored 3.55 points, and Central Indonesia 3.48 points.

However, West Indonesia's advantage is not absolute. In some assessment indices, East Indonesia exhibits better literacy.

"West Indonesia excels in *Digital Ethics* and *Digital Culture*, while East Indonesia excels in *Digital Skill* and *Digital Safety*," stated the Kominfo Ministry team in their report.

In the *Digital Ethics* assessment pillar, West Indonesia achieved 3.7 points, Central Indonesia 3.61 points, and East Indonesia 3.48 points.

In the *Digital Culture* assessment pillar, West Indonesia scored 3.86 points, Central Indonesia 3.79 points, and East Indonesia 3.76 points.

Meanwhile, in the *Digital Skill* pillar, East Indonesia led with 3.62 points, West Indonesia 3.54 points, and Central Indonesia 3.45 points.

Similarly, in the *Digital Safety* pillar, East Indonesia excelled with an index score of 3.34 points, West Indonesia 3.12 points, and Central Indonesia 3.08 points.

The Kominfo Ministry and KIC developed this index based on a survey of 10,000 internet users aged 13-70 years, spread across 34 provinces and 514 regencies/cities in Indonesia.

The survey was conducted from August to September 2022 through face-to-face interviews. Sampling was done using a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 0.98% and a 95% confidence interval.

Respondents had diverse backgrounds, including housewives, entrepreneurs, employees, students, farmers, and others. The complete survey report can be accessed and downloaded via the link: *https://survei.literasidigital.id/*
