A collaborative survey by Kredivo and the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) reveals that the majority, or 69.1%, of paylater users in Indonesia utilize the service for online shopping.
According to the research titled "Report on the Behavior of Indonesian PayLater Users 2024," top-up credit and vouchers are the most frequently purchased products by online paylater users, selected by 25.8% of respondents.
“The increasing popularity of paylater for online transactions means that paylater is now used not only for urgent needs but also for daily needs and bill payments,” the research team wrote in their report.
Next, health and beauty products were purchased by 15.6% of online paylater users. This is followed by fashion and accessories (14%), household goods (10.7%), and food (6.5%).
Other products purchased online using paylater include sports, toys, and hobbies (6.4%); gadgets and accessories (5.9%); automotive (4.1%); office supplies and stationery (4%); children's and baby products (3.8%); and electronics (1.8%).
Meanwhile, computers and accessories were the least purchased products by paylater users in online stores, accounting for only 1.4%.
Kredivo and KIC conducted this survey on over 2 million Kredivo users across 34 Indonesian provinces. Online transaction data was collected from the five largest marketplaces throughout 2023.
