Sweden's Inclusive Internet Index Score is Highest in the World

Sweden achieved a score of 87.4 in the 2021 Inclusive Internet Index released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the highest globally, surpassing the United States with a score of 86.8.

Spain, Australia, and Hong Kong followed, with scores in the 85 range. Canada, France, and New Zealand scored equally at 84.8. Denmark and the United Kingdom scored 84.7 each.

Meanwhile, Indonesia received a score of 67.8 in this index, placing it 66th globally and fifth in Southeast Asia.

The Inclusive Internet Index uses four indicators to measure the inclusiveness of internet access: Availability (covering the breadth and quality of internet infrastructure); Affordability (covering internet access costs and competition among service providers); Relevance (covering the availability of information relevant to needs and using local languages); and Readiness (covering the capacity to access the internet, including skills, cultural acceptance, and policy support).
