Microsoft Revenue Up 19% in Q1 2021

Microsoft reported revenue of US$41.7 billion, or approximately Rp604.6 trillion (at an exchange rate of Rp14,500/US$), in Q1 2021. This figure represents a 19% increase compared to the same period last year, which stood at US$35 billion.

This increase was partly driven by cloud computing service revenue, which reached US$15.1 billion, a 23.1% year-on-year increase. Azure cloud service revenue also saw a 50% year-on-year increase due to high consumer demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Productivity and business services revenue amounted to US$13.5 billion from January to March 2021. This represents a 15.4% increase compared to the same period the previous year, driven by Office Commercial and LinkedIn.

Revenue from the personal computing segment reached US$13.03 billion in the first three months of the year. This figure increased by 23.1% year-on-year, boosted by gaming products and Surface devices.

Furthermore, Microsoft's revenue increased by 55.5% compared to Q1 2018. The increasing variety of technology products offered by the company, coupled with consumer trust, has led to continuous annual growth for the US-based technology company.

However, Microsoft warned users about a discovered security vulnerability in the Windows operating system (OS). This vulnerability could allow hackers to take control of users' computers.
