A report by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), titled *2023 Internet Penetration and Behavior Survey*, reveals that a significant portion of the Indonesian population has never or rarely changed their online application passwords.

Specifically, 66.82% of respondents had never changed their passwords, 10.44% changed them once a year, and 7.52% changed them once every six months. Furthermore, 5.97% changed their passwords once a month, 5.62% once every three months, and 3.64% once every two months.

When asked why they didn't change their passwords, 32.71% of respondents said frequent password changes made them forgetful. Another 31.04% admitted to having no intention of changing their passwords, followed by 18.68% who felt changing passwords was unimportant. Finally, 17.57% responded that they didn't know.

Overall, the APJII research indicates a very weak awareness of data security among Indonesians. In the same survey, 34.47% of respondents admitted to not knowing or never taking any action to protect their data security.

The survey involved 8,510 respondents across Indonesia: 4,004 male and 4,506 female.

Data was collected from January 10-27, 2023, using interviews, questionnaires, and multi-stage random sampling.

The survey's margin of error is approximately 1.14% with a 95% confidence level.
